Here are some of the frequently asked questions (FAQS) I have answered time and time again over the last few years. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Q. What is jappler?

A. Jappler is derived from two words: my first name that begins with a “J” and Apple. Back in the late 1990s, I needed a name for Diablo and Quake 3 Arena so I decided to take the “J” from my first name and “apple” from”Apple”. The “r”comes from the last letter in “Player” in Q3A that I forgot to delete. I needed a domain name and did not want to register my name and after countless hours trying to find the perfect name, but finding that they all were taken, I finally decided to use jappler and that is how jappler.com came to be.

Q. Do you offer web development services?

I have a consulting company (Sandbox Development and Consulting Inc.) that can help you with any web development needs. Contact me or fill out the contact form on my company’s web site for more information.

Q. Is that picture of the Apple your tattoo?

A. Yes! I got my Apple tattoo back in 2001. Apple has been a part of my life as long as I could remember, and so I decided it would be perfect for my left arm where most people get the “I love Mom” tattoo.

Q. What did you use to create jappler.com?

A. My first coded web page was simple, clean, and easy to read. Somewhere down the road, I got pulled into using GoLive CyberStudio (now Adobe GoLive). GoLive allowed me to manage all my pages/sites very easily, but the code was a disaster. In the last few years, I have moved away from using WYSIWYG editors, and moving back to a basic text editor and FTP program for all my web development. I also decided to use WordPress as a CMS of sorts so I could easily edit my web site from anywhere in the world where I had access to a web browser. Using WordPress also gives me the opportunity to use templates, have a database driven web site, have a site wide search, as well as allow me to still use my favorite blog software.
