Weekend Project: Cornhole Sets

Life

A week ago one of my friends asked me if I could/would make a set of cornhole sets for her and her sister.
My initial thought was a hard no, but then I decided why not?

Not only do I like to work on projects – I feel it is important for my kids to see what it takes to build something so they appreciate things more as well as realize they have the potential to create.

We looked at a number of different plans but ended up going with a set of plans from Home Depot but using a slightly heavier plywood (3/4″) to make them a bit more durable/sturdy.

We ventured to Home Depot and picked up all the needed wood/hardware and got started. We set up 2 tables in my garage – one for all the supplies and the other for actual building and got started. We had an assembly line like process and got through the steps in the plans without too many issues.

We decided to build 2 sets at the same time and ended the day with the basic sets just about done. We still need to sand/finish them with varnish/decals but overall – I was happy to use all sorts of fun tools I had lying around (circular saw, jig saw, sanders, drills, etc) but most of all to just spend some time with a friend while building something with quality and hard work.

I look forward to finishing them in the next few days. (More photos to come)
