I will admit I was very nervous for this run. VERY. It was windy as well (16-17MPH) which I never like too. With all that said – I broke up the run mentally in 3 parts after reading I had done this back in 2023. The first 4, the 4 at Gbur, and the final 4 to get home. The first 5 were perhaps the best first 5 I have ever felt. I am not sure if it was because I was so focused on the wind I completely blocked everything else out, or if it was because the music I was listening to (DJ Escape) was the same I found helpful during the 1/2 marathon in 2023, but it was great.
Mile 5 something happened with my left knew and I thought that as going to be it. I walked mile 5-6 very slowly and things improved so I finished up my run. I had Gatorade at the beginning of Gbur (I dropped it off) and then had a few sips every 2 miles. By mile 8 my body was pretty tired from the insane wind but I slowly made it all the way through.

I started the day before making sure I was well hydrated then got up, had a Yerba Mate and an english muffin with peanut butter, then before I went out – I did a 10 minute warmup walk with Robin A. All this made a difference

Stretching which was really hard/a lot of rest.
