Internet Arcade
When I was a kid in the 1980s/1990s – there was not too many things I wanted to do more than go to an arcade to play my favorite games (Afterburner/Space Harrier to name a few). Recently I came across the “Internet Arcade” and love it! Finally I can play Qbert again too! The Internet Arcade is a web-based library of arcade (coin-operated) video games from the 1970s through to the 1990s, emulated in JSMAME, part of the JSMESS software package. If you are an old school gamer like me – check it out! Read more
Retro NES Games Online
[responsive-image id=’5041′ align=’center’ caption=”] Don’t get me wrong – I love playing new games like Call of Duty where everything is dynamic, you play with friends, and nothing is quite the same each game. There is something to say about the old NES games though where you’ve made the same jump at the same time each game. Perfecting a game meant learning and practicing timing vs. anticipating change like the games now. Regardless – I ran across this site: http://www.8bbit.com where you can play some of your old favorites. For me – it is all about Contra! Read more
A Great Look At Mario Through the Years
While I did not play all the Mario games in the article: EVolution of Mario – I played most, and still enjoy some Mario 2 or Mario 3 weekly. Makes me even more excited for the upcoming Mario game: Read more
Just Finished Uncharted 3
I have been a big fan of the Uncharted series since my friend Doug gave me his copy of Uncharted 2 to test out back in October. Since then I have finished Uncharted 2 three times (am almost through on Crushing), finished Uncharted 1 once (difficult), and now – just finished Uncharted 3 (normal). I plan to start it all over again tonight on difficult. Overall – Uncharted 3 was awesome. The game play had variety, challenging logic, and a great story. While I still think Uncharted 2 is my favorite – another time through Uncharted 3 might change all... Read More » Read more
2011 In Review
This past year has been a wild ride. Nothing sticks out more than the Penn State/Joe Paterno firing and that will be a hard pill to swallow for quite some time. I spent the past month or so thinking, reflecting, and trying to make sense of it all. I have been completely consumed by it and need to break away from it and move my focus on more positive things. Just when you think everything is going well – the unexpected happens. With that said – 2011 was a pretty good year. I started going to estate sales and that... Read More » Read more
The Sweater I Wanted in 1990 and Today
I still spend time once a month looking to see if Contra has been released in the virtual console for the Nintendo Wii. I play Super C still regularly but would love to throw Contra into the mix. Not sure what Contra or Super C is? Either you were not gaming in the early 1990s or just truly do not understand the concept of teamwork. A big thanks to Doug for sharing the photo! Read more
Some Things Never Change
Yesterday I walked in my bedroom and had to laugh when looking at my side of the dresser. I guess I will always be a kid at heart with my Pocket Simon, a lego version of the Sears tower, my cap gun from when I was little, my little people on their playground toys, a ceramic figurine I have had since first grade, and a football. A good deal of that stuff is usually on my dresser – but the football and cap gun put it over the top with coolness 😉 Who wants to come over and play? Read more
