Subway, but thanks for the choice.
On our recent trip east – we crossed completely through Pennsylvania twice and this was just west of Lockhaven, PA. We had to exit off of 80 for a gas/Mt. Dew break and as we were getting ready to turn right – we had to wait while the horse and buggy went by first. Needless to say, you just never know what you are going to see next.
I love signs new and old…strange and everyday. Details generally matter and when details get overlooked – once everyday signs become interesting.
Awhile back, my sister ventured back to our hometown in western New York and went to a nearby city where the local community college is located. She apparently went by one of the main entrances and thought of me and my love for signs. As you can see – the lovely “M” is missing and gives the sign a completely different read. A big thanks to my sister for the find on her journey.
Let’s hope they have put the “M” back into place by now…but I would not be surprised if they did not. Go JCC!
Some things in life just make me laugh…and one of those signs are crazy signs. The other day I had to send something next day at the post office and when I pulled into the parking lot of one of the most ineffective establishments in the US (only second to the DMV) I had to laugh when I saw the sign that only allowed parking for 20 minutes because I cannot tell you the last time I was at a post office and was in and out within 20 minutes…on even a slow day. To the US Postal Service – please consider changing the time for parking to an hour which would be much more reasonable.
I spent the weekend relaxing up in the North Woods of Wisconsin in St. Germain where the pace of life is much different than here in Chicago. We enjoyed time with some of our friends who went with us, the Beef-a-rama, and some very scenic drives. I wish I had my phone with me while checking into the hotel because there was a great sign behind the registration desk “Check-in is at 3pm. Don’t Even ask” (with a picture of a revolver before “Don’t even ask”. I loved it. I also learned the locals are not huge Illinois loves. They refer to us as “FIBs” (F***ing Illinois Bastards)…that was pleasant. But – for the most part we had a great time. I am kicking myself for not going fishing while I was there, but I will definitely be ready to spend some serious time on the lake next year. If you are looking for a great time – check out St. Germain. This is a great spot to relax and enjoy the simpler things in life.
I love America…especially when we have the “state safety rest area” and next to it a big liquor and lotto store. Awesome. Thanks to my sister for capturing this great picture on her recent travels.
I love interesting and crazy signs (Ex: garage sale) and after looking through some pictures with a friend who recently returned from New Zealand, I thought I would share yet another great sign that someone decided to make and post. Even better…there is a law against spitting and a fine attached!
I get such a kick out of the south…and this sign is a perfect example. There was such a huge problem with garage sales apparently taking over the bank parking lot that they decided to spend the money to design and produce a sign letting people know that garage sales are not allowed. Wow. Thanks for the laugh…and thanks to my southern friends for capturing this great picture on their trip home over the holidays.
