7 Miles Easy

Training For: 2026 Chicago Spring Half Marathon

As a general rule of thumb I do not choose to run outside unless it is around or really close to 40F. I knew 7 miles on the treadmill would be hard but I was prepared to make the best of it. Then – I watched a video from instagram from one of my favorite soap opera star turned gym owner and an overall inspiration talk about the difference between being interested in something and committed to something. She used the example of someone interested vs. committed to running. The interested person would see it raining outside and say “well perhaps I will run tomorrow” but the committed person would say “I better get my rain jacket”. With that said – I knew I had to suck it up and just dress warmer to get it done because I am 100% committed.

It was cold, but I am so happy I got it done. It was slower than I wanted, but I know now I can at least make it 1/2 through the race.
