I have been in a HBO slump for awhile now. The Wire and Sopranos are done. Curb Your Enthusiasm nor any other show I am really excited about is on…so I started to question why I was paying to get HBO. A few weeks ago I happened to catch Real Time with Bill Maher and really enjoyed it. I enjoy his humor, outlook on politics, and guests that really make for an interesting look at what is going on in politics today. I am sure Ken would pretty much hate him – but he does make an effort to bring both sides to the table. Anyway – that is what I have been enjoying on HBO lately.
There have been some great HBO shows that almost everyone has at least heard about…Sopranos, Sex and the City, Curb Your Enthusiasm, but not many people are aware of one of their best series (in my opinion) Carnivale. This is a great look at good v. evil in a great, yet mysterious time after the first World War. If you are looking for something interesting to watch during your upcoming holiday break – put this series on your Netflix list.
I do not have much time to play games anymore, but I am very excited to buy Sopranos Road to Respect when it comes out on November 7, 2006. I happened to catch the “making of” show on HBO this past weekend and it looks like the developers have done a great job with the looks, mannerisms, and general character. I also look forward to just walking around in the Soprano’s world.
Fifteen months ago, when I knew I had to wait sixteen months to see the next season of Sopranos I was not sure I could wait…but with only a little over a week left before the first episode of season six, I am pumped.
HBO has added Sopranos Maps to the Sopranos HBO web site which is really impressive (a little slow, but still impressive). Sopranos Maps are a cobmination of Google maps and storyline/video from the previous season. Click on a pre-defined hot spot on the map and up comes video from last season along with background information about the video. Good job HBO!
