Media Mondays: Radio 538 iPhone App

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

This week I recommend anyone who enjoys listening to Radio 538 (I love the Dance Department) – to download and use the Radio 538 iPhone App. (Julie – this means you). You can get the application for free using iTunes. Even though the controls are not in english – it is easy enough to figure out within a few seconds. With this app – you can listen to a variety of Radio 538 radio shows at any time – using WiFi or not. This app definitely made my first screen of apps on my iPhone. Read more

CSS Tuesdays: Fun With User Agents

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

If you are going to do any serious CSS development and/or troubleshooting – you need to be able to see the site on as many browsers as possible. Generally – we have several browsers on several operating systems going at once so we can make sure our bases are covered. Last week I built a mobile theme for a client and after a few refreshes on my iPhone – I decided I needed something easier and more developer friendly (I needed to view source). I use the “Develop” menu in Safari (Preference > Show Develop menu in menu bar) –... Read More » Read more

Random Fridays: May 29, 2009

This past week has been absolutely crazy. Hectic work days, a baby shower at my house, a car accident (with Amy’s $51k loaner) – not her fault, crazy deadlines, etc. I will be happy when I can just sit back and relax this evening (before the weekend chaos). Through all of this craziness – I have to say I have been enjoying playing some online Scrabble using <a href="http://www.eamobile.com/Web/iphone-game/scrabble" target="_blank" EA's Scrabble for the iPhone with Doug using Facebook to link us together. The game can take an hour or a few days, depending on when we have time, but... Read More » Read more

Media Mondays: Q101's Phone Taps

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

I generally do not listen to the radio, but I really enjoy listening to Chicago’s Q101 in the mornings and afternoons just to hear the fun phone taps. What is this I speak of? Think Jerky Boys, but better. Basically- people set up their friends to get a call from a woman called Clarissa Jenkins who becomes more and more inappropriate as the call goes on. You can listen to a few on the morning DJ’s MySpace page. These are not for someone who is offended easily – and if you go to q101.com on your iPhone – you can... Read More » Read more

Ocarina

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 3 Comments

A friend of mine recently told me I need to buy this “really cool iPhone application” called Ocarina…so no questions asked…I purchsed it for $.99. From the creator’s web site: Ocarina is the first true musical instrument created for the iPhone. Both experts and beginners will be amazed by this innovative player. Ocarina is sensitive to your breath, touch and movements, making it even more versatile than the original. Unlike other musical applications, there are no pre-compiled riffs so musicians will find unlimited opportunities for self-expression. Still confused? Check this out: My guess is my sister will go on tour... Read More » Read more

Overheard While Getting My Tire Fixed…

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

Yesterday while I was at a certain repair shop (not the dealership) I overheard a conversation that blew me away. I was waiting to get my tire fixed (flat) and at the parts desk, I heard the following: Guy 1: “Did you watch the rebate last night?” Guy 2: “You mean the debate? I watched it and man John…(pausing because he cannot think of his last name)….” Guy 1: “McCain” Guy 2: Yes – man, I do not trust him…he lies so much. I think I even trust the other guy Osama more. At that point – I decided to... Read More » Read more

Apple High

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

I have had an Apple high a few times in my life (the day my PowerBook 520, PowerMac 6500, B&W G3, G4 Cube, 2 Mac Minis, and a MacBook Pro arrived at my door) and I remember each one of them very vividly. Today – I had an unexpected Apple high…I had been having problems with my iPhone (bottom part of the screen was dead) for about a week and finally decided to make an appointment with the Apple Store Genius. I showed up, showed them the problem (with my out of warranty iPhone) – and just like that, I... Read More » Read more

A Week or So Later with the iPhone.

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 1 Comment

I have had my iPhone for over a week now and am still really excited about it. After going on a week long car trip – I have to say I really enjoyed having the camera in the phone to take quick pictures (something I did not have with my BlackBerry 8700c), I organized my overcrowded personal email inbox somewhere in the middle of Ohio while Amy was driving, sent some of my pictures that I took of my son Evan to his grandparents while we were on the road, mapped our route with turn by turn directions, and amazed... My iPhone

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

I finally did it, I had to…I bought an iPhone and I have loved every minute of owning it. I had an appointment the second day I owned it and the person I met with wanted to “zoom the pictures like the commercials”. I also now have the ability to carry around tons of pictures and movies of my son, as well as some of my favorite Curb Your Enthusiasm so I can watch my favorite show while waiting instead of reading some lame magazine. Sure, the camera is not great, but it beats mine on my old Blackberry (there... Read More » Read more

Apple’s iPhone

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

For years I have been talking about and dreaming of an iPhone. Up until this morning I figured Apple would release a simple entry level phone that would be fun for the same people who are likely to buy an iPod Shuffle or an iPod Nano. Little did I know, the new iPhone would be so darn cool! I love my Blackberry 8700, but the iPhone with it’s awesome design and amazing features is exactly what I want. Will I buy it when it comes out? It will be hard not to, but if I can hold out, I will... Read More » Read more
