Without a Smart Phone – Week 2

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

I have spent the last two weeks without my iPhone – something I have carried around with me for over 5 years. I have to say it is has been interesting and sometimes frustrating, but overall – not nearly as bad as I thought. Here are some of my thoughts about not having a smart phone with me at all times: The actual phone: I do miss having this. I am often calling people while doing passive activities (walking, etc) to get caught up with people. I just need to plan better to take a break and use the home... Read More » Read more

Old Hard Drives Laying Around? Try This…

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

A few weeks ago I decided I needed to upgrade my Mac Mini’s internal hard drive from 200 Gig to a 500 Gig so I could finally take a stab at getting my media in one place. For under $100 – I bought a 7200rpm 2.5″ Seagate drive and had it installed in no time. After running a simple Time Machine restore from backup – my Mac Mini was set. I now could consolidate my media – but I was left with a 200 Gig drive that was going to realistically find a home in one of my card catalog... Read More » Read more

No One Knows Me Like TiVo…

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

I recently upgraded to a TiVo Premiere a few weeks ago and since the hardrive is significantly bigger than my previous Series 2 TiVo – I decided to let TiVo make suggestions of what to record with TiVo suggestions and was pleasantly surprised. I have gotten back into the original Batman series (Adam West, Gilligan’s Island, and even some Little House on the Prairie – all some of my favorite shows from my childhood). TiVo Suggestions also recoded some great movies, documentaries, and other great TV shows so I am now able to watch pretty much whatever I want whenever... Read More » Read more

Followup: Bluetooth Cordless Phone

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

I recently posted about the bluetooth cordless phone I ordered. Yesterday I got everything set up and to my surprise – both my iPhone and Amy’s Sony Ericsson something or other phone both paired without any problems and everything works quite nicely! I would definitely recommend this phone (or type of phone) to anyone who gets a lot of calls on their cell and home phones. Not to mention, the UI of this Panasonic phone (KX-TH111) is great! Bluetooth Cordless Phone

I was in the market for new cordless phones after being completely disgusted with the Uniden UI and came across something I found pretty interesting: cordless phones that would allow me to make/take calls from my home line and my cell phone. A and I are famous for not hearing my cell phone while at home so this will be perfect. Read more

A Week or So Later with the iPhone.

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 1 Comment

I have had my iPhone for over a week now and am still really excited about it. After going on a week long car trip – I have to say I really enjoyed having the camera in the phone to take quick pictures (something I did not have with my BlackBerry 8700c), I organized my overcrowded personal email inbox somewhere in the middle of Ohio while Amy was driving, sent some of my pictures that I took of my son Evan to his grandparents while we were on the road, mapped our route with turn by turn directions, and amazed... My iPhone

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 0 Comments

I finally did it, I had to…I bought an iPhone and I have loved every minute of owning it. I had an appointment the second day I owned it and the person I met with wanted to “zoom the pictures like the commercials”. I also now have the ability to carry around tons of pictures and movies of my son, as well as some of my favorite Curb Your Enthusiasm so I can watch my favorite show while waiting instead of reading some lame magazine. Sure, the camera is not great, but it beats mine on my old Blackberry (there... Read More » Read more

Mini Stack

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 2 Comments

To address my increasing backup needs as well as my need for more FireWire and USB ports, I decided to buy a miniStack (500GB). I own a Mac Mini and so the miniStack seemed like the perfect solution. Now comes my friendly reminder to all those reading that do not back up…back it up! On another note, I also recently started using SVN for all my business projects (thanks Demitrious) which is backed up offsite. Back up! Read more

Blackberry 8700

Posted by: Jennifer Zelazny | 2 Comments

After much research and some procrastination, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a Blackberry 8700. I have been using it for three days now and it is by far much nicer than I ever expected. I thought I would miss my Treo 600, but really I only miss my Rocket Mania game. First Impressions: Great keyboard. It is easy to type quite fast and it it has a good feel. Bright screen. The screen is plenty bright and the text is easy to read. No buzzing! I can actually place calls without hearing crazy buzzing in the background.... Read More » Read more
