As a Penn Stater who loves ice cream – I pay attention when the Penn State Creamery introduces a new flavor especially on April 2 when the new flavor is called “Grilled Stickies”.
cinnamon bun flavored ice cream with sticky bun dough pieces and a cinnamon streusel swirl
If that description did not sell it – the photo did:
With that – I put my order in yesterday and look forward to getting that package in the mail.
When I first saw this show advertised I thought to myself “this looks like a great show”…and that was it. FINALLY I caught a few episodes and as expected – I love it. It is based in the 1980s from a young boy’s perspective. Growing up the in 1980s myself – the episodes I watched really brought my back to my childhood – with my tape collection and all great things from that decade.
If you have not seen it – give it a look: http://abc.go.com/shows/the-goldbergs. New episodes will be available this fall.
I was going to post about Nintendo’s new awesome Super Mario Maker – but decided to highlight their awesome and creative overlay which made my day. I have always loved how playful Nintendo is – and glad they show the same playfulness with their web site. Nice work!
When I was a kid in the 1980s/1990s – there was not too many things I wanted to do more than go to an arcade to play my favorite games (Afterburner/Space Harrier to name a few). Recently I came across the “Internet Arcade” and love it! Finally I can play Qbert again too!
The Internet Arcade is a web-based library of arcade (coin-operated) video games from the 1970s through to the 1990s, emulated in JSMAME, part of the JSMESS software package.
If you are an old school gamer like me – check it out!

Don’t get me wrong – I love playing new games like Call of Duty where everything is dynamic, you play with friends, and nothing is quite the same each game. There is something to say about the old NES games though where you’ve made the same jump at the same time each game. Perfecting a game meant learning and practicing timing vs. anticipating change like the games now. Regardless – I ran across this site: http://www.8bbit.com where you can play some of your old favorites. For me – it is all about Contra!
Last year for my birthday – some friends bought me spices from: The Spice House. The seasoning was not like any other I had ever had – but I instantly thought “I want to eat this every day.” I love just about everything hot and spicy, but this taco seasoning – even though it was not hot at all – it was amazing (it is the cinnamon that makes it).
Next up? I am going to try making their pickle recipe.
I love pizza, tomatillos, goat cheese, and bacon. This recipe has all – and it is absolutely fantastic. Looking for an awesome new pizza recipe that you will love?
One bite in and I already had it in my mind this would be the next recipe my friends/family would expect me/want me to have at gatherings.
Thanks Rick Bayless for another great recipe!
Over the weekend we were watching our local Chicagoland chef and TV show host Jeff Mauro on his show “Sandwich King”. As soon as we saw the show – we decided we had to try his latest recipe:
Chicken Shawarma with Tomato Cucumber Relish and Tahini Sauce. Everyone loved it and I was super excited to have more for lunch the next day (what little was left over).
This is a great sandwich.
- The chicken alone is fantastic.
- Who doesn’t love a warm pita?
- The relish was super fresh
I could barely hold myself back from eating too much. I cannot wait to have this again in the very near future.
