As a Penn Stater who loves ice cream – I pay attention when the Penn State Creamery introduces a new flavor especially on April 2 when the new flavor is called “Grilled Stickies”.

If that description did not sell it – the photo did:
With that – I put my order in yesterday and look forward to getting that package in the mail.
Each spring break for almost as long as I could remember – my parents packed up us kids and made the drive to Myrtle Beach, SC for what was always an awesome week. Sure – we had that one day at the mall, but everything else was awesome. The beach, the arcade, the mini-golf, and the search for the perfect souvenir.
We would spend hours looking for shells and sharks’ teeth and anything else interesting that washed up on the shore. I loved every moment. The next treasure was always just a few more minutes of patience away. Last week I packed up my family along with our good friends and headed back to Myrtle Beach for the first time in over 20 years. Instantly I felt right at home and had a blast. The boys and I got up early to look for sharks’ teeth, Cora spent almost all her time with her favorite friend, and everyone had a great time.
On our way back from one of our local destinations – the Uber driver that picked me up had a shark’s tooth necklace hanging up from his mirror and he told me the story fo finding that when he 9 – some 50 years ago. With my luck – he was a serious sharks’ tooth hunter and averaged anywhere from 10 – 80 finds a day. He told me the best place to find them, the time, etc.
I could not have had a better Uber ride back to the hotel, and a better return to one of my favorite destinations.
On a recent trip to the Dominican Republic – I saw this sign at the airport:
Even with bug repellent – those mosquitos were all over me and I came back with all sorts of bites. Perhaps someone needs to let the CDC know it is harder than not letting the mosquitos biting people.
This is a perfect quote that relates to just about everything and anything. After a bad day – I always come back to this.
“Losing a game is heartbreaking. Losing your sense of excellence or worth is a tragedy.” -Joe Paterno
Simply amazing (both bands of course)!
Over the last few months I have really enjoyed listening to DJ Flipside on B96 both on air (as shown) as well with his podcast available via iTunes. You can even go to his web site and catch older shows: http://djflipside.com. If you are looking for some upbeat great dance music – check him out.
I have to admit – I got sucked into watching the show “Out of Order: The Amish“. I will also admit I have always been fascinated by the Amish. Until watching this show – I had nothing but the utmost respect for them. Hardworking, community oriented, etc. While I still appreciate and respect them – I have to say this show has really highlighted some things I have not thought too much about (what it actually means to be shunned, the consequences of being shunned, their religious beliefs/teachings).
While I am trying to keep everything in perspective – it just goes to show that there are two sides of every story. I look forward to going to NY this summer to talk to a family friend that has close Amish friends more about some of my new found questions.
I have been waiting to vote in this election (Alumni Trustee Election) since November of last year. While it is no secret who I want to win – I have high hopes for these three new members. Let’s hope the new elected trustees ruffle a few feathers and can get Penn State turned in the right direction.
On another Penn State note – this weekend is the Blue & White game. It will be a great and a sad day. Let’s hope our new coach has a great first experience in Beaver Stadium.
